Appeals and Post-Conviction

Once a guilty plea or conviction has entered, it becomes increasingly difficult to withdraw that guilty plea or overturn that conviction. Appeals and post conviction work are time sensitive.

An appeal is different than other types of post conviction work.  An appeal is a procedure that allows a defendant to request a higher level court to review a decision made by a lower level court.  Other types of post conviction work typically leave the case with the original court and request the original court to make decisions based upon new information or to reconsider a prior decision.
